My Childhood LIVES! (and this blog does too!)

Wow, it's been nearly a year since I bothered to post on this thing. I'm...slack. Anyway, this recent bit of news is certainly worth talking about...Grim Fandango!

That's right, Disney has restored my faith in them by actually bothering to do something with their properties (I'm looking at you, old LucasArts management!). Last week, during E3, Sony announced at their press conference that a joint venture between them, Double Fine Productions and Disney has spawned the remastering of the classic adventure game from 1998.

So far, all we know is that it will be a CONSOLE exclusive (capitals because people complaining about no-PC seem to miss this obvious point all the time) to PS4 and Vita, while Tim Schafer has stated in various tweets that other platforms will be announced soon (so basically, he's contractually obligated not to talk about the inevitable PC version). It has also been revealed that Double Fine will utilize some of the enhancements created by fans over the years to make this new remastering as complete and definitive as possible. You can hear all about that, as well as tickle your nostalgia itch in this awesome restrospective:

This is probably the most exciting gaming news all year for me, and I can't wait to see some screenshots...or a trailer....or a release date...or whatever else they throw at us before the game comes out...screw it, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY NOW!

Seriously though, this could be the start of a LucasArts onslaught if Grim does well (which it will....or else). Just imagine getting a remastering of Full Throttle next, that would be awesome beyond words, especially if it looks anything like this:
